Olivia Musa — andrologist and fertility clinic founder
My Story

I built a fertility clinic from nothing but a vision

NHS scientist. Founder. Educator. Here's how it happened.

Where it began

A career nobody talked about

I didn't plan to become an andrologist. Like most biomedical science students, I had a vague idea of the clinical pathways available to me — haematology, microbiology, biochemistry. Andrology wasn't on the list. Nobody mentioned it.

I stumbled into it during a placement, and something clicked. The science was fascinating — the intersection of biology, reproduction, and human hope. I knew immediately that this was where I was meant to be.

I trained within the NHS, worked my way through the bands, and became a qualified andrologist. For years, I did the work I loved inside a system that rarely celebrated it.

The turning point

The question that changed everything

"If I could build this for the NHS, why couldn't I build it for myself?"

— Olivia Musa

After years in the NHS, I started to see the gaps. Patients waiting too long. Students with no clear route into the field. A discipline that deserved more visibility and more investment.

I asked myself a question I couldn't un-ask: if I could build this for the NHS, why couldn't I build it for myself? So I did. I founded my own fertility clinic — from scratch, with no external funding, no safety net, and no blueprint to follow.

The clinic

Built from nothing

The clinic grew beyond anything I had imagined. Within three years we had reached seven-figure revenue, supported over a thousand patients, and built a team I'm genuinely proud of.

But the thing I'm most proud of isn't the numbers. It's the letters from patients who finally got answers. The students who found their path because of something I shared. The andrologists who told me I made the field feel possible.

Why I do this

Making andrology accessible

Lab & Life exists because I spent years wishing someone had shown me the way. The resources, the mentorship, the honest career advice — none of it was easy to find. I had to build it myself.

Now I create the content, courses, and community I wish I'd had. Whether you're a student figuring out your specialism, a graduate mapping your first role, or a professional looking to go further — this is for you.

What I believe

The principles behind the work

01

Clarity over complexity

Science should be accessible. I translate clinical knowledge into language that empowers, not intimidates.

02

Representation matters

The field needs more diverse voices. I show up visibly so others know they belong here too.

03

Honesty above all

I share the real story — the hard parts, the mistakes, the lessons. No curated highlight reel.

04

Community over competition

There is room for everyone in this field. I lift as I climb.
